() Skeletal Muscle System and Rehabilitation Engineering

Application of Engineering Principles and Technology in Rejuvenation Science of Human Skeletal Muscle System. The course covers the introduction of rehabilitation projects, the research and development of rehabilitation projects related to musculoskeletal systems, and the application of modern science and technology.

Neurobehavioral rehabilitation

The understanding of brain behavioral mechanisms and action control can help rehabilitators clinically evaluate the treatment of movement and behavior, and innovate breakthrough in environmental renovation. Therefore, this Institute will combine the development trend of modern scientific research, using instruction and research resources in areas such as rehabilitation medicine, molecular medicine imaging, medical engineering, and psychology, to research fields related to brain behavior and motion control, including Brain Electrophysiology, Brain imaging study, Biomechanical research and Clinical Assessment Study. Brain electrophysiological study helps understanding of advanced brain function. And then assist in the rehabilitation of cognitively impaired patients or explore issues of neurobehavioral development; Brain imaging research can open up the level of rehabilitation research from the level of molecular medicine, and directly from the activity of living organisms, observe the different types of functional recombination that rehabilitation therapy produces for the brain. It can provide verification and evolution of treatment theories, advance clinical research based (evidence-based) on empirical research; Kinematics, mechanics, and electromyogram analysis help to understand the effectiveness of the evaluation of the motor control and motor behaviors of neurological or orthopedic disorders. And clinical assessment studies can explore issues related to brain lateralization or asymmetric development from explicit behavior.

Elderly Health Science

In recent years, due to changes in the demographic structure of Taiwan’s society     and the reform of the payment system for medical care systems, health care for the elderly has become the focus of government policy development. The Chang Gung Medical System, in addition to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital's acute medical system, includes chronic hospitals, nursing homes and health culture villages, forming an integrated medical health care system. It is comprehensive resource integration from preventive health care, acute medical care, chronic medical rehabilitation and long-term care. And the research and development of health science for the elderly is focused on the exploration of the clinical practice and theory of the health of the elderly from the perspectives of physical, psychological, and social diversity. It emphasizes the importance of rehabilitation related personnel in the care of the elderly, establish health care rehabilitation service model, and discuss topics such as the relevance of the activities of the elderly and the promotion of quality of life and the remodeling of lifestyles.

Exercise and hypoxia adaptation molecular medicine

It is a systematic discussion on the prevention and treatment of acute injury and chronic diseases or possible potential dangers for exercise and hypoxia intervention. The models of experiments include cell molecules, experimental animals, healthy humans, human populations with a potential for disease, and patients who already have the disease. By exploring the effects of exercise and hypoxic conditions on vascular tone, thrombosis, inflammation, immunity, free radical production, and apoptosis, to understand the regulatory mechanisms of hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, diabetes, cancer, infection, aging, and health. And then establish a safe and effective treatment strategy.

Sports injury protection

In the current situation of the rapid development of sports, leisure activities, and health maintenance industries, relevant academic fields and various institutions are in urgent need of professionals with knowledge of sports medicine and the prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation skills of sports injuries whether domestic or foreign. We will conduct in-depth and systematic research in four areas: (1) basic science of sports injury protection; (2) sports injury assessment; (3) sports injury protection; (4) sports health management.
